Put Ron Hunt on the scrap heap. He is done, he has the shakes per him. I called him this afternoon

Well, this has been a rough few days for us older Mets fans.....Ron Hunt & Jerry Koosman. All I can say is, thank you for trying. We really do appreciate it.

I'll throw out a few more names............

Jay Payton
Matt Franco
Rick Reed

Rick Reed was REALLY a very good pitcher while he was with the Mets------the poor mans Greg Maddux-----so, I'll throw out the offer to you again Jimmy (LOL)......I'll buy you lunch, if you can get us Rick Reed. LOL. Seriously-----I appreciate all your efforts, and time that you put into this for us. You guys are the best!

While keeping my fingers crossed for Henderson and Flynn, was thinking of some 1960s era Mets who might (despite advancing age) make one more signing:

Joe Christopher
Tommy Davis
Galen Cisco
Johnny Lewis
John Stephenson

Conversely, would love to see these more contemporary guys, who I've never seen make appearances:

R.A Dickey (as of now, still unsigned but would love to see this Cy Young Award winner. Heard he didn't like doing signings but when I met him in San Francisco a few years back, was chatty and friendly).

Jose Reyes (lots of current players have done signings as of late...when will we see Jose?).

Johan Santana (he'd clean up just on inscriptions...everyone I know has a no-hitter related item waiting to be signed).

Daniel Murphy (I know this is probably a non-starter but, hey, why not throw it out there?).

Nice pitcher but a poor man’s Greg Maddux is a little too much of an accolade for him. We’re talking Greg Maddux!

I'm sure 20 years, or so ago, you weren't watching many Mets game. If you were, you would've heard Tim McCarver, and Ralph Kiner call him "The Poor Man's Greg Maddux". They were not the only ones.
They weren't comparing him to Maddux, as much as they were saying his "style", was similar. They both nibbled on the corners, while not breaking any speed records on the radar gun.
I know your used to a higher standard(Wells, Clemens, Pettitte, etc...), but he was much better than you realize.
During his time as a Met, he was in the top 15 in ERA, among all MLB starters.
His walks per 9 innings during that time--------was second ONLY to Greg Maddux.

He wasn't an ace, but, I'd take him on my team, and really want him in my collection.

Oh trust me, I’m aware of what was said. Doesn’t mean they were accurate. Sort of like how Bob Murphy always referred to Shea Stadium as “beautiful Shea Stadium,” even though he was lying thru his teeth.

Anyway, back to the scheduled programming 😋

Silverbacksports2,
This show is filling out rather nicely. Don't allow the perennial complainers to discourage you from posting show updates and other pertinent information here. Your insight is helpful and appreciated. One member who is always bemoaning future shows doesn't like it when the promoters and fellow members stand up for themselves and defend their shows. This is soon followed by the individual announcing he's leaving this forum for good, only to resurface once again shortly thereafter. Your efforts and input here are highly valued.

Silent lineup indeed. Plus, Alomar and Raines just cancelled.

5 Guests Scheduled for Sunday - pretty quiet day.

I guess JP’s has spoiled us - they were on a nice run with impressive lineups.

With no May show..let the countdown to the August show commence!
