Guest list will be neutered without MAB working with JPs...hopefully MAB client's wake up and figure out their exclusivity with MAB is not beneficial to them...

As a gentle reminder, this show overlaps with the Yankees 1998 Anniversary Celebration at Yankee Stadium. With many former Yankees in town, it would be prudent for JP’s to do their due diligence to reach out to players like Chuck Knoblauch. Since he’ll be in town, that’s half the battle!

MAB has their new Summer event scheduled same weekend as East Coast National...this is looking like it could be an ugly dispute from what looked like strong business partners...hmmmm....

Okay - so there is definitely something to this JP’s and MAB dispute. Up until now, everything was purely speculative - but with strong reason as to why.

MAB has posted the following graphic on their website. As soon as you log in, it reads in very clear wording:

****

“MAB Celebrity Services would like to make the following statement to set the record straight: JP / Rock Solid have posted on their website that Roberto Alomar and Tim Raines are cancelled from the Hofstra Show this weekend due to unspecified reasons. That is not the case. Mr. Raines, Mr. Alomar, and MAB Celebrity Services did not cancel their appearance. Thank you.”

****

That MAB has scheduled the summer show this same weekend as the August JP’s show is also of note. MAB has posted a list of athletes for this show so far - Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Hideki Matsui, Mike Piazza, Cal Ripken, etc.

Chicago Sports Spectacular also has no guests being supplied by MAB.

I'm surprised by this as well. They have been bringing a bunch of athletes over the past few shows.

Out of respect for both Jim and Mollie (my 2 favorite promoters), I am refraining from engaging in any of the gossip, regarding whatever has transpired behind the scenes between the two of them.

I am a customer and fan of both of them, and will continue to be. Hopefully others will feel the same, or at least respect that whatever issues they may or may not have behind the scenes, is between them and not for us to get involved with. We have no idea what is going on between them, and there really is no reason why we need to be in the know. Personally, I think that both deserve better than for us to be gossiping on the situation on this public forum.

With that said, I just started a thread in the upcoming events section, where we can discuss the newly advertised MAB Summer Show. Hopefully, we can now keep this thread about what it was intended for...discussion of JP’s East Coast National.

Thanks

It’s never good for anyone involved when events like this are scheduled at the same time. It’s a loss for the collector and loss for both promoters.

Obviously none of us know exactly what went down. Both companies used to do business with one another regularly. Mollie would come on to the board countless times to commend Jim and the JP’s staff.

When Mollie brought in Scott Brosius and co and had a strong Yankee lineup at the Jan 2014 show, Steiner spited MAB by scheduling a competitive lineup intentionally the same weekend with Hideki Matsui and co. This was the first set of public signings for either Brosius or Matsui. However JPs and MAB’s dilemma started, this reminds me of the Steiner and MAB falling out of a few years ago. Steiner went as far as initiating a suit against MAB for copyright violation, forcing MAB to rename their show from Yankees Palooza to Pinstripe Palooza without any reference of Yankees in their marketing.

Of course, MAB and Steiner now do business with one another and the issue has been resolved.

Please also send you player requests right to our email JPRS@NYSHOWS.ORG as we are starting to get a lot of requests from all different advertising and it would be easier to just see them in one place.
